The Central Board of Direct Taxes has notified the new ITR Forms in August 2018 and has extended the last date to file income tax return for the Financial Year 2017-18 from 31st July 2018 to 31st August 2018. The new ITR Forms require the taxpayers to provide their income details and this is how you can get it.
This is the second time in the month, that the Income Tax Department updated these utilities. There are various information that a taxpayer is required to give while filing the Income Tax Return.
Where to get the required information from?
The taxpayer can get the details of the bank interest on savings account from the Savings account Passbook or the annual bank statement.
- For the details of the fixed deposits, the taxpayer can trace the details from the TDS Certificate in case TDS has been deducted from the salary of the taxpayer.
For information on the interest received on the income tax refund, one can refer to one’s Form 26AS which can be downloaded from the TRACES website. Form 26AS is your tax passbook which consists of all the details of tax that have been deposited against your PAN to the government and also details of tax refund paid to you, by the Government.
