How to prepare and file ITR for the Financial Year 2017-18?

Anyone who earns income in the form of salary is supposed to File ITR-1, the documents that you will require to file ITR-1 is your PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Form 16/16A and Bank Account Details.

Here are the steps using which you can file ITR-1 Online: –

  • Firstly, you are required to register yourself on the official e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. Then click on login button and enter the necessary details.

Filing Income Tax Return

  • Once you log in, you will have to click on the e-file option and select “Income Tax Return” option from the drop-down menu.
  • A fresh window will appear on your screen. Your PAN will be pre-filled. You are required to choose the assessment year from the drop-down menu, ITR-1 for the ITR form name and for the submission mode you are required to click ‘Prepare and submit online’.
  • Once you are done with this step, then you will have to choose how you wish to verify your ITR after filing your ITR,that is using Aadhaar or EVC generated by net-banking or sending ITR-V to Central Processing Centre, Bengaluru. Even though verification is the last step in completing the tax return filing process, you cannot skip this step now.
